研究方向

  • 繽紛多樣的維管束植物是陸域生態系中最優勢的生物類群,也是人類文明發展之所需。
  • 本研究室在系統分類的基礎上研究植物的地理分布、種化機制,以秋海棠屬、小檗屬、及中越邊境石灰岩溶地貌上之苦苣苔科植物等多樣性高的類群為研究材料,以分子親緣分析及次世代定序技術,探究一個半世紀前即已困擾著達爾文的「惱人之謎」。秋海棠屬是開花植物第六大屬,我們與亞洲各國學者合作持續探索秋海棠屬的物種多樣性,重建其親緣關係,解析秋海棠雜交、多倍體化的複雜歷史,以期能建構反映親緣歷史的自然分類。廣義小檗屬植物是真雙子葉植物基群多樣性最高的木本植物類群,是探究全球造山運動與植物快速種化之絕佳素材,也是少數在臺灣山地輻射種化的類群。廣布在中越邊境喀斯特地貌上之石灰岩溶洞穴是許多未知苦苣苔科植物的獨特生境,也是東南亞最岌岌可危的生態系。
  • 東亞常見的桑科植物構樹是南島語族製作樹皮布的主要原料,極有可能隨著南島語族遷徙由東亞傳入遠大洋洲島嶼,本研究室持續以構樹之親緣地理追溯南島語族之遷徙歷史,提供支持「出臺灣說」更有利的證據。

 

簡介

 歷史沿革
     動物及植物標本館原先分別隸屬於動物所及植物所,植物研究所於1995年4月23日所務會議中正式通過設置「中央研究院植物研究所標本館」,並於本院84年第三次院務會議中經院方正式核准成立。動物標本館則是在1997年4月9日由院方正式核准設立。生物多樣性研究中心於2004年正式成立後,動物所及植物所即分別將此二館典藏之所有標本、設備、空間及人員移交給多樣中心,並於2007年3月15日院務會議討論通過,合併改制為『中央研究院生物多樣性研究博物館』(Biodiversity Research Museum, Academia Sinica)。 
     兩館成立迄今雖僅有十多年的歷史,然其濫觴可追溯自1960年代。植物標本館由已故的莊燦煬教授創於1961年(時任植物所助理研究員),次年莊先生赴美深造,所有相關業務旋告停頓。1982年底,彭鏡毅博士恢復運作,並以HAST代號(Herbarium, Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica, Taipei)申請登錄於國際標本館索引(Index Herbariorum)。動物標本的收藏則開始1963年吳錫圭自夏威夷大學返國,從事本土性海洋無脊椎動物的研究,包括貝類、多毛類、甲殼類、棘皮動物等動物標本的收集,此前(1961年)有潘木良及丁蔚華收集本土昆蟲,1968年林飛棧開始收集果蠅標本,同年李信徹著手收集魚類標本,1970年代,邵廣昭、巫文隆、陳章波等分別負責收集魚類、貝類和棘皮動物類標本,1980年代周延鑫、李文蓉也著手收集昆蟲,劉小如開始收集鳥類標本,1987年鄭明修加入收集珊瑚類、多毛類、甲殼類、棘皮動物類和貝類,1990年代謝蕙蓮則專注於多毛類標本,2000年起馬堪津專注於濕地及水生昆蟲的收集,及2006年曹順成、李奇峰著手收集鞘翅目昆蟲。 
     植物標本館於1995至1999年由彭鏡毅兼任主任;1999年8月至2003年6月由趙淑妙兼任;2003年6月6日起再由彭鏡毅兼任。動物標本館1997年首任館主任為李信徹,依序為巫文隆、鄭明修、謝蕙蓮、馬堪津、邵廣昭、陳昭倫 、劉小如、曹順成。合併後現任首任館主任由彭鏡毅兼任,2015-8-1起由邵廣昭兼任館主任。2016年6月起館長由鍾國芳副研究員擔任。

典藏現況
     在植物方面,主要蒐藏台灣(含附屬島嶼)及東亞維管束植物。特殊的蒐藏有菊科、秋海棠科、鴨跖草科、珍珠菜屬(報春花科)、細辛屬(馬兜鈴科)、魔芋屬(天南星科)、茜草科、地錦屬(大戟科)及茶科。蕨類方面有王弼昭先生所採集的10,000多張標本。2003年私立高雄醫學大學贈送本館標本一批。其主要包含日據時代重要採集者島田彌市先生(Yaiti Simada)之標本;亦不乏前台大醫學院長、高醫創辦人杜聰明博士之標本。截至2007年4月為止,已鑑定且編號的蒐藏標本有115,000餘號。平均每年增加約5,000號的標本。本館與世界約30所學術機構交換複份標本,以換取東亞(特別是大陸及日本)植物為重點。目前交換對象除國內各大學及植物研究機構外,遍及亞洲各國、美國、英國及荷蘭之主要大學、植物標本館、博物館與植物園等。 
     在動物方面,包括魚類、兩棲爬蟲、鳥類、哺乳類、珊瑚、扁形動物、環節動物、軟體動物、昆蟲、甲殼類、棘皮動物等標本,分別典藏於昆蟲、無脊椎動物、魚類、鳥類/哺乳類/兩生爬蟲等標本室內。其中的魚類標本截至2007年4月已超過一萬四千七百多件,含本土魚類兩千餘種,是國內最完整的典藏單位,各類標本管理分別由相關學門研究人員兼任,並有三位約聘助理負責無脊椎動物、脊椎動物及電腦資訊之相關業務。本館典藏有不少的發表新種特別指定的模式標本,包括全模式標本(Holotypes),及副模式標本(Paratypes)。前者僅存於本館,後者則有部分典藏在國內外大學和博物館,例如台灣大學動物系、海洋生物博物館、德州大學、澳大利亞博物館、夏威夷Bishop博物館、洛杉磯博物館及美國國家博物館。除上述單位外,本館又與若干國外博物館,如捷克科學院動物所博物館進行學術交流活動。

數位典藏
      自1992年起,本館得到中央研究院植物研究所及行政院農業委員會支持,由彭鏡毅博士研究室及標本館同仁執行「台灣植物資源調查及資料庫建立」計劃。目的是建立台灣植物普查資料,提昇本土植物種原保護,蒐集環境影響評估之資料,並建立資料庫於網際網路。自1995年起在中央研究院計算中心的協助下,本館研究蒐藏之成果已公佈於全球網際網路,為台灣第一個開放於網路上的資料庫(約有40,000多號標本)。彭鏡毅研究員於1996年編輯出版之「台灣維管束植物編碼索引」(農委會贊助)也置於該網站。 
     本館自2002年起即加入「國家型科技計畫」執行「數位典藏計畫」,將台灣各類動、植物之標本、文獻、生態影像等珍貴典藏品數位化,建置資料庫,並公開於網路上提供各界查詢利用。生物多樣性屬性之典藏品,在以人文屬性為主的「數位典藏計畫」中更顯珍貴且備受好評。標本館之典藏品,經由數位化作業,得以另一種形式保存,並經由網際網路之流通平台,提供學術研究、科普教育等全方位之利用,並經由全球網路呈現了台灣傲人的生物多樣性。 本館陸續架設包括台灣本土植物資料庫、發現台灣植物、植物大觀園、台灣魚類資料庫、台灣貝類資料庫、台灣生物多樣性資訊網等網站,提供國內外專家學者及一般民眾查詢服務,建網迄今每月超過二十萬人次使用。
