Two Tenure-Track Positions in Microbial and Marine Diversity
The Biodiversity Research Center, Academia Sinica (BRCAS; http://biodiv.sinica.edu.tw/), Taipei, Taiwan, invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant or Associate Research Fellow level, which is equivalent to “assistant professor” or “associate professor.” We wish to strengthen research in (1) Microbial and (2) Marine diversity in this round of recruitment. Nevertheless, we will also consider outstanding applicants in other fields of Biodiversity.
The applicants must possess a Ph.D., preferably with postdoctoral experience and a successful track record of scientific productivity. (1) For the position of Microbial diversity, we seek outstanding candidates in environmental microbiology who utilize various approaches (high throughput culturing, systematics, phylogenetics, molecular biology, and ecology) to study microorganisms in environmental contexts. We especially encourage candidates with research interests in microbial ecology, diversity of microorganisms, and/or microbial genomics. (2) For the position of Marine biodiversity, we seek outstanding candidates in marine biodiversity and ecology, specifically with research strength in fish systematics as well as understanding the impacts of climate change on reef-associated organisms and their resilience to such change from all biological and ecological perspectives.
The center provides good start-up funding and substantial internal support for new PIs. The center consists of four divisions: Marine biodiversity and ecosystems, Terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystems, Molecular and genomic evolution, and Microbial diversity. The center is in charge of a high throughput sequencing core with one PacBio Sequel, two Illumina HiSeq2500 and one MiSeq, and Academia Sinica is well equipped with modern research facilities.
